I, Patricia Lockhart, am a teacher working with a group of former 2nd grade
students to pass a city bill into a law. After the tragic death of one of my
student's baby brother, we began a campaign to obtain saftey gates on fire escape
windows. These gates are made to open in the event of a fire while preventing
crime and falls. My students and I are sending out petitions to all NYC schools.
We plan to tesitify at the City Council and the NYS Assembly and Senate. Maybe
we will get the opportunity to see the Mayor or Govenor sign the bill into a
law as well. Once this bill is passed it will be called Ibrahim's Law in memory
of the baby.
